Rustling in the long grass, crackling sounds made not by crickets but by paws. Lazy camouflaged pelt trotted along as if it had no care in the world, violet golden eyes staring straight ahead as if looking at a different angle meant punishment and he would be beaten senseless into the ground, which was a complete lie. His paws danced with less grace than a plump bear in the middle of winter, and awaken by a loud sound. His two sets of ears flopped lazily over each other, his tail and the wings attached to it wavered slightly above the ground but bumping into the different sized grass. The two belts were fastened tightly over his stomach but started to catch random pieces of grass in the buckles and straps, the mullet/mohawk atop the wolf’s head bounced along with the steady rhythm of his walk, this was Veto. A wolf that had been experimented on in the past, he hated talking about it although it took up most of his life story.
Paws finally came to a sudden stop, his loping gate stopped short, he lifted his head. Veto gave a low bark almost inaudible, he sat on his hind legs and lifted himself up until he stood like a human and was well taller than the grass that had reached his head before. He steadied himself and turned his head this way and that, Veto saw nothing but grass, grass, and more grass. He started to worry, it was completely dry and could easily start a horrible fire, and he was surrounded by the flammable objects.
Veto landed on all fours and started up a new pace, jogging through the tall grass, then he started to canter evenly slicing a pathway like a crop-circle would do, although he wasn’t trying or making anything that looked like a pattern. He was new to the lands and thought that the long grass would go on for a short period of time and it would end and turn back into the short green that tickled at his paws and was threatened by animals such as rabbits and even field mice. Veto shook his head dumbly and repeated the word ‘stupid’ in his mind, referring to himself that is. Hoping he would run into somebody that could lead him out of this field of towering grass that could make him sneeze and grab onto his fur and accessories. He finally opened his earthy brown maw and called out. “ Um, is anyone out there? I’m lost, can you get me out of this maze!?” He didn’t expect an answer, and resumed trotting in large loose circles that he himself did not know he was walking in. Everything looked the same although some of the grass was packed to the ground, Veto thought of it as another large animal had been through the same way and got out alive, so being Veto he followed the light path as well as calling for help to an unknown creature.[/size]

From the dense grass a black aud pricked up, followed by a pair of inquisitive amber orbs. A...voice? The sleek gray pelt leaped from the patch of thick grass and bounded back to the unmarked path that he had wandered from not too long ago. Tails flagging behind him, the wolf's paws slapped the dusty earth as he trotted easily forward, bending down to sniff at the trail. The dry grass flashed by in a blur as the canine continued forward, a rhythmic bounce to his strides.
Suddenly the paws skidded to a halt as the wet nose became glued to a scent on the trail. The amber eyes fixed on a single mark on the dirt; a light trace of a pawstep. The scent wasn't too stale. Quickly, the wolf darted off the invisible path and followed the trail through the grasses and underbrush, nose still plastered an inch above the ground. Finally...there was someone else! The adolescent's spirits lifted and he bounded forward eagerly.
"Hey!" he barked sharply, streaking headlong through the featureless grass for a moment before slowing again. He slowed his pace to a steady walk and then froze, poised, and listened. Black auds pricked up and the tails rose over red haunches while the wolf listened for the continuous calls.
From out of nowhere a small creature, no larger than nine inches tall, appeared, sitting down by the wolf's still paws. Its beady green eyes looked up, and it tilted its head to look up.
"Whatcha list'nin' for?" It asked, recieving a sharp 'shush!' from the wolf. The small dragon creature snorted in offense, a light gray puff of smoke billowing from its nostrils. The creature sat back on its haunches, perching on its tail for balance, and folded its arms. "Well, fine then. Don't speak to me." the dragon rolled its emerald orbs.
Rhin sighed in defeat and let himself relax, though he was still listening for the calls again. "I heard someone," he insisted. "I swear!"
"If you say so,"
"I do! Rauku, this would be the first time I met someone since..." his voice trailed off, and the dragon's eyes sadly watched the wolf gulp, swallowing the sudden memories that threatened to overwhelm him. The scaly creature hopped to one of Rhin's paws and delicately patted it with a small arm. "You won't be alone forever. You have me. And we'll find your family. Don't worry,"
Rhin looked down, a thankful smile gracing his black maw. "Thanks," he murmured, and the dragon beamed. "'S what I'm for," Rauku replied.

Veto pranced along in the grass circling without knowing it, he started to imagine to hear paw steps other than his own. He was just imagining it though, right? He stopped as soon as the other paw steps stopped, he listened for he was sure he had just heard another yell something out that sounded like ‘HEY!’. He sat down and licked at his paws that were just starting to tire him out and become tender with all of the grass stabbing at his paw pads and prickling his skin. “ Grass, stop stabity-ing my pads.” He whined low talking to the unresponsive organisms.
He sighed and decided to yell out again and try to find someone or help, or maybe something to chase him away and out of the grasses, he stood and started to pick at the grasses jammed into his belts and those sticking from his fur. After that was done with, Veto walked a few more feet turning a corner to follow the trail again. But, he stopped and lifted his nose into the air. Sniffing at the crisp sky and looking at the clouds lazily tumbling over themselves to limber across the blue, unlike the oceans though, this blue would never end, neither would it have a beginning. He felt a smile etch itself upon his lips, then without noticing his lips parted and his mouth curved into an ‘O’. With one sharp intake of air he cried out, a loud howl was emitted from his very jaws.
But, when Veto heard the howl echoed he immediately shut his jaws tightly together and turned his body in ever direction it could go with it’s paws planted firmly into the soft soil. He became suddenly nervous and branched off from his circular trail and raced down straight ahead of him, running into stumps, tripping over rocks placed carelessly there, as well as having the long grass slap at his eyes and whip past his ears as he finally got tired of all this running around he collapsed.
To his advantage though, he was by a large boulder, and he righted himself onto all fours again and climbed up it like it was a mountain. Struggling to gain composure on the boulder, Veto licked at his paws and chest fluff, staring around from the slightly elevated ground. “ I really hope I didn’t disturb anybody.” Veto whispered to himself, sighing sadly and again his legs gave way and made him topple to the boulders’ surface. This time they refused to work, he had only been out of the laboratory for a short while and needed to regain his stability, and other techniques to survival.

"ThereIHeardItAgain!" Rhin exclaimed gleefully, prancing another step forward in excitement. "Rauku, d'you think you could fly up and look around?"
The small dragon nodded, spreading its wide leathery wings, and pushed itself into the air, pumping the wings to climb steadily into the air. He circled around, a silhouette against the sun, but cast no shadow below him. Eventually the little red creature returned to earth, landing with a skidding thump. "Couldn't see anything," was his report, and the wolf sighed. "Okay, then, lets go fi-"
His sentence was interrupted by a howl, which ended abruptly. Rhin's featured lit up again. "C'mon!" he called over his shoulder, as he dashed off again in a random direction, blundering through the grass. The dry stalks brushed at the teen's maw, and he squinted against them. He decided to let out another call.
"Anyone there?" he barked.

Rhin froze as pawsteps sounded out from the grass. He slowly raised one tail the other straight out behind him, and the small dragon reappeared on his shoulder, alert as well. Rhin's amber eyes flickered to the side, and he glanced into the grass.
"H-....hello?" he called, suddenly wary of whoever might be in the grass.

Emo Wolf Got in a stance to attack. He leaped And when he saw the dragon he froze and stopped rite in front of the other wolf. "umm.." Emo slowly stepped back "S-sorry that I bothered you." He studded the dragon not really knowing it was a dragon but still curious. "Might I ask what that is" He said stuttering.

OOC|| Rauku's Rhin's imaginary friend, so no one else can see him. XP I know that was a bit confusing, since I never said so while In Character. Would you mind editing your post just a bit...?

Emo Wolf Bolted Running away from the small creature and the wolf. Emo Wolf Ran toward a tree jumping on a branch about 3ft above the ground. He slowly drifted to sleep. A few minutes later a small wolf about two feet was behind a tree whimpering. A small pup Lite brown Hazel eyes Little tears ran down his cheeks. "hey little one! What might your name be?" Emo Wolf looked toward the small pup. "Wheres your mother?" "I-I'm Mudos. A-and my mother" The small pup felt a lite breeze as He said tearing up more "well A bear K-K-killed her" Mudos burred his head in his arms. "Why am I telling you this you don't care like a thing like this ever happened to you." He said trying to show anger. Emo Wolf looked in his eyes and saw himself. Emo Also teerd up "you have no idea what happened to me kid." Emo Wolf sat there telling him his child hood history.

OOC: EmoKilleEeEeEer, you can only add character by posting their information on the 'New Character' board X9 I forgot to tell you!!!
Veto heard another bark out, he perked his ears and shifted to lay on his side, front legs sprawled out and back legs somewhat tucked underneath him. His brown fur ruffled in the soft wind that made the stalks sway and dance, it reminded him of fire, although he never really seen a fire before, only when some random human came and lighted one of those giant metal cans that the humans put food and other odd items. He remembered watching the flames with Terra and his mother, they gave warmth and sometimes when his father came, you see, Veto’s father was always out supplying food and sometimes brought articles of clothing on winter days so Terra, Veto, and their mother wouldn’t freeze. But, when his father came, he would sit down in front of mother, him, and Terra and watch the human instead of the fire until more humans came or the fire died down, then he would herd them to a huge tan box, laying on its side with a black arrow pointing down on one side of its cardboard walls, and they would sleep there, but father was always outside sleeping, or he was staying up, Veto never saw his father sleep actually. Getting back to the subject though, the brown male had to reply to the call. “ I-I’m here!” Veto shouted to the empty pasture of tall stalks that swayed with the wind and bent if the wind blew hard enough.
“ I’m over here, near a big boulder! I mean no harm!” He screamed frantically, hoping whatever called back to him would appear and Veto hoped it was nice. He pawed at the surface of the boulder and started to leave a few scratches on it, they were lighter than the boulder itself and Veto sniffed at the marks, this was a random reaction considering nearly his whole life he was cooped up in a cage. Sadly his vision was terrible and he couldn’t see far off like most wolves, he only could see about four feet away then the rest was severely blurry, he, after some hardcore testing was used to test perfumes and eye drops. So that their experiment wouldn’t die of too much exposure to acidic components and other tubes of liquid. Veto stared squinting his purple and gold eyes at nothing, trying to find some source of movement but failed at it.[/tt]

Rhin's auds swiveled backwards as he watched the other wolf dart off. He sighed, but then heard the call of the first voice he had heard. Oh well...might as well go find it. He loped off in the direction of the call. "...near a big boulder..." Rhin caught, and he glanced around, trying to rear up to his hind paws to be able to see above the grass. Boulder...boulder....boul-there! A smooth gray surface caught his attention and he raced to it, nearly tripping as a paw got caught on a tangled root. Growling he freed himself and tumbled forward, nearly crshing into the lage boulder as he burst from the grass.
"...Ow." he declared flatly, righting himself and shaking his head. As soon as his blotty vision had cleared the teen struggled to his paws, trotting around the boulder. "Hey," he called out. The mysterious voice must have been around here somewhere......
Rauku appeared at his side, hopping along with little flaps of his leathery wings. The small red dragon chirruped and glanced at the gray and red wolf. "See anything?" he asked, and Rhin shook his head, then gathered his haunches and leaped, scrambling up the side of the boulder. He hauled himself over the top and glanced around. The dry grass spread out forever, like a sea of rippling brown and green. It gave the adolescent a feeling of being trapped, and he quickly looked away.

Veto heard the stalks rustle, being himself he thought the wind was just blowing harder now, he curled up at the foot of the boulder, eyes shutting tight to rid himself of the blurry brown and green smudges. His tuff of hair flowed steadily in the small breezes that inched their way over the grey surface, he opened his eyes again and was about to let out an over-dramatized yawn when the rustling got bigger, like paws storming through the tuffs, wheeling around and stumbling. He listened intently, then a loud shallow bang was heard, like someone ran into a dense object. Or, in this case, a boulder.
A young male perched himself on top of the rock, he muttered something and shouted ‘Hey!’ looking about like Veto wasn’t sprawled out just at the bottom of the grey. Then, the male looked to his side as if something was at his side and he talked to himself and mused out. ‘See anything?’, Veto perked his four ears and laid flat against the earth as if the shorter grasses would cover his whole body from view of this crazed teenager. But, maybe he was just alone like him, and wanted someone to talk to and since he was young, picked out a random imaginary friend from the depths of his mind. Veto decided to speak up from his low position.
“ Hey! I’m down here, my legs just gave way and their stubborn! I get stand at the moment, so if you plan on running me out, please let me rest for an hour or… Less?” Veto cried out, knowing because of his lost talents he couldn’t ever take on a wild wolf or even fox, maybe not even a mouse. As well as being in this exhausted state, it would not happen, ever, or until he has all of his instincts back at least.

"Whoa, hi!" Rhin exclaimed as he looked down from the top of the boulder, noticing the brown wolf at the foot of the rock for the first time. The adolescent leaned his weight to his back paws and skidded down the rock face, landing with a light thump on the dirt below. He shook himself off from head to tail and glanced back in time to see Rauku flap down gracefully after him, alighting on the wolf's shoulder.
"I thought I heard someone!" the gray wolf grinned broadly. "My name's Rhin! Who are you?" He asked, amber orbs gleaming. Finally...someone else! He didn't even know how long he had been wandering around the neverending sea of grass, and of course he had the little dragon with him, but to tell the truth, Rauku didn't offer too much company. "And my friend's Rauku," The wolf added, then he wagged one of his two tails.
"You seriously don't know how happy I am to finally see another animal. All this grass is so...pressing!" Tarhin rolled his eyes and pulled his ears back.
OOC|| Rauku doesn't know any more than Rhin does, 'cause they're "the same person". So, like, when Rauku had gone up into the sky to look around, he couldn't see anything because Rhin couldn't see anything.

A slender white figure walked about almost aimlessly in the sea of grass. His pads lightly kissed the ground as he silently made his way through the grass. Fang could barely see for even though he was tall, the grass came up to his muzzle. This would be the perfect place for ambush or for hiding, Fang noted this.
His emerald orbs scanned the area as he continued to trek along, his ears perked for even the slightest of sounds. Various scents then filled his jet black nose. Stopping at once, the male lifted his head as if to howl, but only did so to get a better whiff of these unfamiliar smells. Wolves.
He stiffened involentarily, it's been so long since he had come in contact with another like himself. But this is what he wanted right?
Call them.
The soft voice in his head spoke sweetly, urging him to do what it said. A moment of hesitation. Then Fang lifted his head and emitted a song that he had almost forgotten how to use. The notes flucuated from highs to lows as it came to its climax. The meloncholy tune drifted away with the slight breeze as if carrying it along so that all may hear his plea. It asked of acceptance, something he had desired for so long.
ooc// Sorry that it's not longer, I seem to still be going through this writer's-block stage. :/

Veto pinned back his front pair of ears, the tuff of his hair fluffed out more as Rhin continued to speak, referred to his imaginary friend and somewhat thanked Veto about finding him and how the grass could make someone claustrophobic. Veto nodded at Rhin and said, “ My name is Veto, Hello Rhin. And err, Rauku.” He smiled, almost all of his fangs shown and he was going to open his mouth to speak again to question Rhin, but a melancholy howl arose from the depths of the endless sky and it chilled him to the bone. He could tell the one that howled was younger than he himself, but his voice was unlike his and Veto somehow gained all of his lost energy back and stood up, climbing on top of the boulder next to Rhin and tried to spot the owner of the howl.
He couldn’t see anyone though and he tried to desperately find the other canine drifting among the tufts of yellow and green. He wanted to find the owner of the howl before it stopped so he soon became frantic and forgot all about Rhin even though he and Rauku was right next to him. The howl finally stopped and Veto sat back down disappointed that he had not found anyone else.
He sat on the boulder and remembered that he could also howl, being curious to see if the other will come and they could have a little meeting together. Wouldn’t that be fun? Veto raised his maw into the air and he felt like he could poke the cloud overhead and he let out a more elated cry, his notes went higher and shriller then dropped down to a low whine, before it became shrill again and rose to the sun that burned their fur and the ground. He closed his eyes to continue singing to nothing now forgetting about the howl’s purpose.
He then remembered Rhin and the other nameless character and let his howl lower until it was a scarcely audible groan. He turned to Rhin and chuckled nervously and replied with. “ Meeting new comers is always cool!” He feel silent and his energy drained him again and in his sitting position he sort of slumped down to the ground twitching his ears and pawing at his muzzle before panting several times to become cooler.
